Iles Formula Women - Kate Shapland

Meet Kate Shapland, the renowned beauty journalist and founder of LEGOLOGY, a leg care line that's available at Urban Retreat as well as Net-a-porter, Liberty, Fortnum & Mason, Violet Grey, Niche ... etc. She is a very well respected authority on all things beauty related. As we consider kate one of Iles Formula Women, we interviewed her today to share with all of you her story and her relationship with her hair.

Name : Kate Shapland

Profession : Journalist by trade - I've been beauty writer for 25 years, the last 14 of which I wrote a weekly beauty column for the Telegraph newspaper - and more recently founder of Legology, a dedicated leg care line.

IF : Relationship with your hair ?

KS : Extreme ... long, short, long, short ! It's cropped short now because of time, I am low maintenance, but quality low maintenance - in other words if I only have time to wash and run, I want to be using the best cleanser/conditioner I can get my hands on.

IF : Best hair inspiration decade ?

KS : The 50's and 60's elfins - Jean Seberg in Breathless (1959), Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday (1954) and Mia Farrow 1968 stand out wonderful, all of them !

IF : How did you hear about Iles Formula ?

KS : Through my good friend Martine Montgomery. Iles Formula also happened to launch at Urban Retreat the same week as Legology - I feel honored to be in such esteemed company.

IF : What is the most inspiring thing you've learned at your job ?

KS : The enormous amount you can learn from people around you.

IF :Do you read directions for use ?

KS: No - eek !

IF : Do you read the composition of a product ?

KS : Yes, because my scalp can be sensitive, so I like to avoid harsh detergents, sulfate and paraben.

IF : Your favorite Iles Formula product ?

KS : Iles Formula Finishing Serum ! A short cut needs to look slick and in shape. This little miracle controls flyaway, calms down just-washed craziness and gives hair a remarkable shine.

IF : Your favorite shower dance ?

KS : It's more likely to be a song than a dance and AC/DC Long Way To The Top seems to work quite well with the shower acoustics.

IF : What makes you the happiest ?

KS : Being with my family, friends and my Scottie dogs in my garden.

IF : If you were to share one beauty tip with us today, what would it be ?

KS : To have a sense of humor.Laughter makes everyone more magnetic.

IF : Being a woman in 2016 ?

KS : Being kind, being brave ... being you !
