Paris Fashion Week was in full swing this last week, and there is definitely a lot to talk about in regards to hair. For this season of Paris Fashion Week, we decided to switch things up a bit and share with you how to Get the Look: Curls and Braids from Paris Fashion Week. We found some backstage looks and we’re sharing some step by steps and what tools and products you will need to create these looks in this weeks journal.
The first look of the Get the Look: Curls and Braids from Paris Fashion Week is from backstage at the Off White show.
What are we loving here? Everything! This style is so NOW and we definitely wanted to share how to get the look with you. To begin, the success of this look starts with the haircut. In order to really benefit from the styling, the hair should be cut to emphasize this style. What to ask for? Long eyebrow grazing fringe, and shorter layers around the face and throughout. When determining what length to cut the hair, stay above the shoulders.
Fashion and Beauty brands are adapting their campaigns of late around curls too. Herewith Tom Ford features unisex curls, and Heidi Klum known for her trademark silky straight locks posted images of herself with curls recently asking our founder Wendy Iles to create them for her.
If your hair is naturally curly then its time to embrace those curls girls, flaunt them. Smother your curls in our Finishing Serum , comb the product through and allow curls and waves to dry naturally. The finishing serum will take off the frizz and deliver a silky lusciousness to the curls. Promise you are going to love this golden product tip.
If you are not blessed with waves or curls here is our recipe to create them.
Step 1/ Start out sectioning the hair from ear to ear in the back and secure the top away.
Step 2/ Beginning in the bottom, use a 1/2 to 1 inch curling tong. Curl sections in alternating directions using slightly alternating sizes. Pro Tip: Do you have hair that does not like to hold curl? Simply clip each section into place then allow the curls to cool. Be sure the hair is cold before dropping them down.
Step 3/ After you have completed the entire section, let down another row and follow the same steps. Continue up the entire head.
Step 4/ Around the face and fringe area, be sure to alternate the direction and size of the curls. This will create a more “lived in” curl.
Step 5/ Upon completion of the the entire head, use a small amount of Iles Formula Finishing Serum . Use the serum with your fingers to piece out the curls. The product will give you soft, luscious curls and lots of shine. It won’t weigh down the curls, but rather give them a beautiful, bouncy end result.
The second of our Get the Look: Curls and Braids from Paris Fashion Week is from the Balmain show. There are a couple of different ways to achieve this braided ponytail, depending on how savvy you are when it comes to braiding. Before starting the How To, take a peek below at what supplies and products you will need to create this super chic hairstyle.
Step 1/ Before you do anything, add a small amount of Iles Formula Finishing Serum throughout the entire head of hair. Comb or brush through for even distribution. The serum will bring perfect control to the hair, and will help greatly into delivering a pristine neat braid, and give that luscious silky aspect to the finished stye. For this braid to look modern it should be gel and hairspray free.
Step 2/Using a rat tail comb, section out a giant rectangle, that starts at the middle of each eyebrow on both sides. If you are skilled at braiding, take it all the way to the back in the nape area. If you are only able to create a three strand braid, then stop at the rectangle section at the crown area.
Step 3/ Once you have completed that step, then Section the rectangle into 3 equal size sections and secure each with clips.
Step 4/ Continue by brushing the hair into a center low ponytail in back and securing using a bungee or hair tie that matches your hair color.
Step 5/ After you have secured the ponytail, move to the rectangle area. Begin with 1 of the 3 sections, and start braiding the section using the cornrow method. Braid until your section is finished and secure the ends with a hair tie.
Step 6/ Next, Repeat the process on the other two sections within the rectangle.
Step 7/ When all 3 sections have been braided and secured, direct them towards the ponytail you have created and secure those to the ponytail using another hair tie.
Step 8/ Finally, take a section of hair, and wrap it around the ponytail holder to hide it, and secure underneath using a bobby pin.
That is it! You now have the tricks for creating these Paris Fashion Week looks yourself.
