IF: Tell us what you think is the biggest challenge in a hairdressing career today?
I think the biggest challenge today is to stand up for your skills and knowledge. Saying “no” is harder than we think. Unfortunately, we made it very hard for ourselves these days. Social Media is pushing unrealistic expectations from our clients. We have to be strong enough to say what’s really possible and how to achieve hair goals.
IF: What’s the most enjoyable part of your current job?
I really love to work in a creative and professional environment. Reza Hair is giving me all the freedom to explore myself and my craft while being super grounded with a solid base.
IF: Why did you choose the path of hairdressing?
Like so many little boys worldwide, I loved playing with my sister’s barbies. I think that’s how my passion started 😉
IF: If you had not made the decision to be a hairdresser what would you have been?
I’ve always loved the movie “For Love or Money” with Michael J. Fox. I think I would have been a very flamboyant concierge 😉
IF: What is your greatest strength?
My strength is definitely diversity. I love all the aspects of our beautiful craft. However, I think when you ask my clients, my biggest strength is the ability to listen to my clients.
IF: Your favorite hairdressing tools?
I have that one Vidal Sassoon Ceramic Brush. She is looking like the worst thing on earth, but I would never, ever throw it away.
IF: Tell us about your relationship with Iles Formula. How you discovered us and which formula is your favorite?
My Relationship with Iles Formula is super fresh. It started a few months ago. I was always working with Wella exclusively, but was super curious what else was out there. Of course Iles Formula caught my attention. I bought it, and fell in love instantly. My favorite is the the whole entire set, the Shampoo, Conditioner and Serum.
IF: New Hair trends, Is there something happening with hair right now that is exciting?
I think it’s exciting how the structure of hair is changing right now. In my opinion we are more able to play with structure and texture.
IF: What was your worst hair moment and why….Privately or on set or in the salon?
The worst hair moment was during Top Hair days in Germany. I was doing a haircolor live on stage in front of 1000 people. I don‘t know why, but I had not double checked my color bowls before entering the stage. A super cute helping hand prepared everything for me. Unfortunately she confused the bowls.
I applied the lighter color on the roots and the very dark color to the ends. I was sweating like hell. The only possibility I had in this moment was to turn up my stage-ego, giving them the show, and sending my model backstage. I don‘t know how, but she looked amazing when she came back on stage.
IF: If you could cut and color anyone’s hair, who would it be and why?
If I could, I would love to travel back in time and would color and cut 90’s Linda Evangelista’s hair. I think she is amazing. Ok, she is still amazing today, so I would love to do her hair then and now 🙂
IF: Where do you pull hair inspiration from?
I’m living in the amazing city of Berlin. Inspirations can be found everywhere. I’m living in the area of Charlottenburg. An area where tradition is meeting the young future. That’s super inspiring.
IF: Your 3 favorite instagram feeds?
IF: Your advice to young hairdressers starting out?
Work hard and be nice, stay true to yourself, and never stop learning!
IF: Thank you Stefan for sharing with us!
