IF: Tell us what you think is the biggest challenge in hairdressing today other than Covid-19?
Remembering to work from in front of the chair as Business people and not just behind the chair as Artists.
IF: What’s the most enjoyable part of your job?
Making people feel amazing and confident by the time they leave their appointment at my salon.
IF: Why did you choose the path of hairdressing and was it easy to fall into this work?
I actually was a makeup artist at first during our last big recession. I realized that my clients weren’t booking make-up services as often as they used to. But when it came to hair, it was a must. People always needed to get their color done.
Was it easy? Not so much. With lots of practice, advanced training, apprenticing three different salon owners, becoming an educator for a Global brand, and the determination to understand all aspects of hairdressing, I knew I would find my own lane.

IF: If you had not made the decision to be a hairdresser what would you have been?
This is hard because, for the first time, I really don’t have a backup plan or could imagine doing anything else.
IF: What is your greatest strength?
I’d say making people feel as gorgeous on the outside as they are on the inside.

IF: Your favorite hairdressing tools?
My favorite tools would be my Razors, Dyson Blow Dryer, Dyson Air Wrap, sewing needle and thread.
IF: Tell us about your relationship with Iles Formula. How you discovered us and which formula is your favorite?
At The Uncommon Mane, we offer luxury hair extensions and wanted to offer a product line that not only makes our guest’s hair look good but also feels good instantly. I don’t have one favorite formula of Iles, I love them all equally. Including the turbans.
IF: What was the most challenging job you ever made?
In my early days as a Hair Stylist, booking weddings and offering hair + makeup styles for a bridal party alone was challenging.

IF: What was your worst hair moment and why… privately or on set/stage or in the salon?
Early on in my hair/career, there was a time when I didn’t trust my gut. I undervalued my skills, experience, and time. My advice to my younger career self is: Charge what you believe you’re worth and can deliver.
IF: If you could style anyone’s hair, who would it be and why?
I would love to be able to do Britney Spears’ hair. Have always adored her and have so many ideas of what I would do with extensions and her blonde color.
IF: Where do you pull hair inspiration from?
I draw inspiration from old Vogue magazines I’ve collected over the years. Also, the 70’s vibe is also my fave.
IF: Your advice to young hairdressers starting out?
Make sure you love what you do and do what you love. Also, invest in education after school or apprentice under people you look up to. Education and humility are key to success in this industry.

IF: How has Covid -19 changed your vision on hair industry today?
Honestly, I feel like it has woken our industry up. We must always roll with the times and think out of the box to withstand any obstacles. Again it’s more than just about doing the hair. It’s also marketing and figuring out your client retention as well as your personal aesthetic. Stay true to who you are and be your utmost authentic self. It will translate into your Art.
