Iles Formula People welcomes our loyal Iles Formula customer Sarah Nicollier, Director of Mayfair Interiors based in London and Algarve.
Read on to see what Sarah has to say about all things beauty.
IF: What is your relationship with hair?
Omg, me and my hair… I have been through it all. From platinum blonde to red hair to very short, you name it. At my age today I am aiming for strong, very healthy hair and keeping it a little shorter. Hair is one of the most important things to me. If my hair is great, I just feel so much better in my skin.
IF: What would you say is the best decade for hair inspiration?
I love the 70’s for the natural Brigitte Bardot long hair looks and the ’20s for the glam.
IF: How did you hear about Iles Formula?
I came across it on Instagram and immediately ordered it as I had huge hair damage during lockdown due to stress and hormone imbalance. It literally got horrible overnight and I became very anxious about it. Iles Formula really saved my hair.
IF: What is the most inspiring thing you’ve learned at your job?
I worked for a long time at a construction company and then as an interior designer. A very masculine world out there inspired me to always persevere and not be a shy girl in a male-centric world.
IF: Do you read directions for use and the composition of a product?
I always read directions for use. I rarely read the composition.
IF: Your favorite Iles Formula product?
I use all of them and am a big fan but when I put the mask on once a month, the hair just has a very different feel and there is no mask-like it out there. It’s incredible.
IF: Your favorite shower dance?
I do dance a lot in the house but actually never in the shower. Now that you mention it, I might…
IF: What makes you the happiest?
A long lunch at the beach that lasts all day with best friends and a huge amount of white wine whilst having deep conversations. Add a beautiful sunset to that and a skinny dip in the ocean to end the day with a BBQ…
IF: If you were to share one beauty tip with us today, what would it be?
SPF50 all day long winter and summer, even when it’s not sunny. You can spend hundreds on the best skincare products but the sun will damage your skin, no matter what. I even wear SPF when I don’t go out of the house.
IF: What does being a woman in 2021 entail for you?
Well, these times are for sure unexpected and challenging in every way. In a crisis like this, priorities shift and I have thought a lot about how I want my life to be in the future and how “living fully” is so important. This is also a challenging time for our children and very hard on their mental health so I am very much focusing on being there for my daughter and friends who need me.
IF: If you didn’t do the job you do now, what do you think you would be doing?
I would have loved to work in the beauty industry. I have been passionate about skincare products since I was a little girl and used to mix all my mother’s expensive Sisley creams together to create face masks. I’m a skincare freak and would have loved to have my own brand or a beauty salon. Well, it’s never too late.
IF: Which celebrities do you think are wearing great hair at the moment and why?
I love Chrissy Teigen. How she has fun with her hair and tries out so many different styles. She recently cut it shorter and I love her highlights. I’m also a big fan of South Korean artists like BTS who just change hair cuts and colors all the time. They wear their hairstyles with such confidence, I love that they are so fashion-forward.
IF: How are you spending your time at home in light of the current COVID-19 pandemic?
I’m very lucky to be currently in the Algarve in Portugal getting my new house ready. The sun definitely makes a huge difference to mental health and wellbeing. I try to do lots of workouts, walk a lot on the beach, and hope every day that this will be over soon but we have to be patient. I am very grateful to be healthy and safe.
