IF:  Tell us what you think is the biggest challenge in hairdressing today?

Keeping up with the latest technologies, products and hair fashion since it’s constantly changing so quickly.

IF:  What’s the most enjoyable part of your job?

When I come to work it doesn’t feel like work. I enjoy everything about it, but mostly when I get to make people feel good about themselves.

IF:  Why did you choose the path of hairdressing and was it easy to fall into this work?

I have wanted to be a hairdresser since I was 4 years old. My mum is a hairdresser and had her own salon when I was younger. So I was lucky enough to grow up in that environment. After a few years of helping my mum, I got the opportunity to start working in one of the best salons in Hobart, Tasmania, where I lived at the time.

IF:  If you had not made the decision to be a hairdresser what would you have been?

I would probably be a photographer since I have always been interested in it.

IF:  What is your greatest strength?

I think my greatest strength is styling and coloring.

IF:  Your favorite hairdressing tools?

My favorite hairdressing tools are hairdryer, round brush and a wand.

IF:  Tell us  about your relationship with Iles Formula. How you discovered us and which formula is your favorite?

I started using the Iles Formula when I started working at Edwards and Co. The first time I used it I was amazed by the results. In particular I love the Finishing Serum. It’s so efficient and I love how it makes the hair so soft and shiny but weightless at the same time.

IF:  What was the most challenging job you ever had?

The most challenging job I have done would have to be when I entered the Hair Expo competition, considering all the work that goes into it: creating the collection, designing the hair pieces and then putting it into practice and finally shooting the collection.

IF:  What was your worst hair moment and why….Privately or on set/stage or in the salon?

It would have to be when I first started playing with bleach and left the cling wrap on too long and the hair started steaming. Luckily it was just a mannequin! (plastic testing head)

IF:  If you could style anyones hair, who would it be and why?

I would say Kim Kardashian since she is this generation’s beauty icon and she sets the hair and makeup trends.

IF:  Where do you pull  hair inspiration from?

I get my hair inspiration from social media and fashion magazines.

IF:  Your advice to young hairdressers starting out?

My advice to young hairdressers starting out is to set goals and work hard to achieve them. I think the key is to be dedicated and passionate about your job!

IF:  Thank you Nicolas for sharing with all of us!
