Curtain Bangs: This Seasons Hottest Fringe

How many times have you felt like you wanted to change your hair but really didn't want too much of a change?  This seems too often be the case, doesn't it?  One of the easiest ways to change up your look is to add a fringe. However, it always seems the minute you cut a fringe, you then instantly can't wait for them to grow out right?  Well, you are in luck because right now it's all about Curtain Bangs: This Seasons Hottest Fringe and if you are not familiar with what they are, they are inspired by the bangs worn by style icon Brigitte Bardot back in the 60s.  These super cool bangs are what all of the trendsetters are currently obsessing over, and we're sure you will be too.

What Are Curtain Bangs

Curtain bangs are exactly how they sound.  They are bangs that are cut shorter at the center and gradually get longer towards the ends.  The result is a bang that is split down the center and opens up like a beautiful pair of curtains.  The benefit is that they open up the face and add style to a haircut that you might otherwise be bored with.  They will also help to enhance your greatest features, such as cheekbones, eyes, jawline etc.

Can Anyone Wear Curtain Bangs

The truth is that curtain bangs really can be worn by most face shapes.  However, the length of them would be adjusted to suit your specific face shape. Keep in mind, they don't need to be the exact length you see in images, you can really adjust the length to suit your features best.  Talk with your hairstylist about which length would work for you.  They really are a great way to change up your style and provide a different look without having to cut off all of your hair.

Maintenance

Before deciding to get curtain bangs, or any bangs for that matter, it's important to consider the maintenance. Since curtain bangs are worn longer and more lived in, it isn't necessary to drop everything and get them cut often to maintain them.  They provide a leeway when it comes to maintenance so you don't have to worry about that. You will however need to have them re-cut about every 4-5 weeks unless you can hold out for your next 6-8 week haircut.  Talk with your stylist, they will often book you for a quick bang trim and you will be in and out in 10 minutes.

What about doing them in the morning?  If you have worn bangs before then you know that when you wake up in the morning your bangs can sometimes look like a hot mess right?  If this is you, not to worry, there is no need to re wash your entire head.  Spritz your bangs with water and use our Iles Formula Finishing Serum before blow drying them back into place.  It's a quick 5 minute fix and your bangs will be looking fresh again.

Other Options For Styling

One of our favorite parts about these bangs is that they even look great when you decide to wear your hair in a ponytail or even a bun on top of your head.  Simply pull your hair back, leaving out the fringe and it looks super cute.  The options are endless, a low braided hairstyle, low bun, high ponytail, low ponytail, a scarf or hat, really almost anything will work with curtain bangs so don't be afraid to have some fun.

Growing Them Out

The cool thing about curtain bangs is they are typically worn a bit on the longer side, so with that being said, you won't have to struggle as long when you decide you have had enough and are ready to grow them out again.  Also, since they are worn longer, they can typically be pulled back for days when you just want all of your hair out of your face.

If you feel like curtain bangs aren't the right fit for you, or you just aren't as fond of them, no worries, you can still try other types of bangs to update your style when it comes to your hair.  To see which bangs are right for you click here.
