Enjoy this visual feast as you take a stroll with us down the avant-garde lane of beauty inspiration. A little something to spice up our creative juices as we Tribute to Couture’s Best Avant-Garde Hair Looks.
The above 6 images give tribute to Nicolas Jurnjack one of the first hairstylists who took hair with haute couture to a whole new level just on 2 decades ago. Working alongside Alexander McQueen was the key, having a designer enthusiastic about the unbelievable proportions. The constructions were phenomenal. Wendy Iles our founder was part of this innovative Jurnjack team responsible for these avante garde icons looks.
Julien Dys has been the mastermind behind exquisite hair shapes for Comme Des Garcons for over 2 decades. Using hair and fabric elements he never ceases to amaze and inspire.
This spectacular image below resembling “birds of a feather ” for Ann Demeulemeester 2012 is so cleverly done by Euegene Souleiman that the model appears already in flight.
Guido Palau is a master at recreating head shapes. The simplicity and purity of this shape below is spell bounding. His eye for balance is superb.
Cellephone wrap is such a brilliant element. Easy to apply and creates a shine line delivering a very effective high hairline. The juxtaposition of the smooth base with the large round shaped back and the addition of the ribbons of hair, makes this a favorite of ours.
Thin wisps of colored hair applied like a hair net with no boarders is absolutely stunning. The exquisite work of the talented Euegene Souleiman.
This gold leafed paper mache also created by Eugene Souleiman for Martine Margiela 2015 was genius . Sat a top simply waved hair and connecting the two elements with brush strokes of gold paint pigment. Is this not divine? Our Iles Formula Finishing Serum makes for a perfect product for prepping the hair to create these waves. Simply apply the serum mid lengths to ends before styling. The serum will allow the hair to remain workable and behave throughout prep and the show.
Givenchy 2016 proved sucessful with these heads gelled to create cask like very graphic helmut shapes . The partitions in the hairline and around the ear add a multitude of dimension to this lacquered work of art.
Last but not least is this urban textured hair formed into shape with oversized black bobby pins. Does it inspire you to create ?
