IF: Tell us what you think is the biggest challenge in hairdressing today?

I would have to say it’s the work / life balance. I love what I do so much that it’s hard for it not to be all consuming.

IF: What’s the most enjoyable part of your job?

Seeing the confidence you can instill in someone just by changing their look.

IF: Why did you choose the path of hairdressing and was it easy to fall into this work?

Hairdressing was fairly easy to fall into. I was offered a full ride scholarship my senior year of high school. At the time I was attending a college prep private school that didn’t allow outside scholarships. After meeting the requirements of the scholarship, I respectfully pleaded with the administrators to make an acceptation, promising them I would not let them down.

IF: If you had not made the decision to be a hairdresser what would you have been?

If I hadn’t pursued a career in the beauty industry I would definitely would have chased the dream of being a fashion designer!

IF: What is your greatest strength?

I can confidently say that one of my greatest strengths is delivering exactly what my clients ask for. When I first began this journey, one of the greatest goals was to grow and build my knowledge in order to achieve exactly what it was my clients were asking for. That took a lot of practice but I feel confident in knowing that I have the tool to execute just that!

IF: Your favorite hairdressing tools?

There are so many tools I enjoy working with! To a list a few – my Mason Pearson brushes, Parlux dryer, Ibiza brushes, Hot Tools irons, YS combs and clips, and my shears.

IF: Tell us about your relationship with Iles Formula. How you discovered us and which formula is your favorite?

I learned about Iles Formula about six months ago through a client of mine! I instantly fell in love with the product and was blown away by the healing elements it carried. The design and packaging also captured my attention – I had no other option than to try it! Step 3 Finishing Serum is always my go-to. I use it on all my clients and I use it at home!

IF: What was your worst hair moment and why…. privately or on set/stage or in the salon?

Oh gosh! thankfully these moments feel few and far between but I will never forget the time my assistant and I were prepping extensions for a shoot we had the following day. We had been working on the extensions for a bit of time at this point and I had to step away for a brief moment. All of a sudden my assistant came running out for me and broke the news that the extensions fell down the drain!

IF: If you could style anyone’s hair, who would it be and why?

I can’t say I have one specific person I’d absolutely love to style, but it has been a dream of mine to style the Victoria Secret runway show and just work on more editorial, runway in general.

IF: Where do you pull hair inspiration from?

I pull inspo from just about anywhere. I’m so inspired by architecture, nature, movement in material and textures. I really look up to many former artists that are masters at their craft, such as Cim Mahony, Zoey Grossman, and Rosie Huntington.

IF: Your advice to young hairdressers starting out?

You are not limited by anything and you have the ability to achieve anything in life! There will be days that aren’t as fun or exciting as others but if you keep a positive mind and remind yourself of those goals you’ve set out to reach, you will get there!
