Hair How To: Get Textured Volume
This week I worked on set with Elle Magazine and Model Anja. I wanted to share the look we created with you as well as some steps for how to do this look on yourself at home. For this post, I am sharing a Hair How To: Get Textured Volume with you so that you can recreate this look we did for Elle Magazine on yourself at home.
Anja (pictured above) has fine textured hair. It's the type of hair that gives that "slept in" look naturally. When she arrived on set for an Elle shoot, the base in her hair was perfect as a starting point. Finer hair tends to naturally create texture at the base, which became our foundation for the style. When recreating these styles, it's important that you have the right products and tools to complete the technique.Step By Step
To create for yourself the same hair texture, follow these steps:
1/. Shampoo and condition your hair the night before using our Iles Formula Shampoo and Conditioner. You will love the way these products make your hair feel. On waking, the texture should be already half done.
2/. The secret is to not brush or comb your hair, or the texture will be lost.
3/. Just on waking, turn your head upside down and place some hot wind from a blow dryer into the root area, pulling the roots in the opposite direction to what you want them to go. This will add the root volume.
4/. Next, throw hair back into place and take some Iles Formula Finishing Serum and just accentuate the texture by adding it through the hair. This adds a texture to the finish that you will love.
5/. While showering or putting on makeup, pull the hair all up into a high ponytail (without a band) right on the top of head toward the front. Twist the tail in a clockwise position to get a long sausage shape, then turn this around in a circle knot shape and secure ends with one pin. This is my magic trick for getting amazing volume without curl.
Anja love how well this technique worked, and took a lesson from me before leaving the studio so she could recreate this at home for herself. I really do enjoy this technique as I find it to be quite effective for creating the perfect textured volume in the hair.
