flights and photographs ahead. Here's how to get the hair ready before the season starts asking for it.
Where does holiday hair actually start?
At the scalp, and about a month early. Start with the Iles Formula Scalp + Body Exfoliant, worked into a damp scalp in small circles. Its macro rice grain keeps its integrity throughout use, so it exfoliates precisely, then rinses away with warm water and takes the summer's build-up with it. Then, every day, the Iles Formula Scalp + Hair Rejuvenating Booster: the award-winning, drug-free leave-in treatment, sprayed onto the scalp where healthy growth begins. Holiday hair is a scalp decision made in October.

What should you change about washing?
Less, done properly.
"Fall isn't for adding more. It's a moment to cleanse + reset." Wendy Iles
The Iles Formula Signature Collection (Shampoo, Conditioner and Finishing Serum) is that reset. The shampoo goes onto very wet hair, with more water rather than more product. The conditioner is wet-brushed through from an inch below the roots to the ends. The serum finishes without ever weighing the hair down. The hair going into December should feel lighter than the hair that came out of August.

What's the one thing to do the night before an event?
The overnight ritual. Before bed, a few drops of the Iles Formula Vitamin Treatment Oil straight onto the scalp and through the hair. In the morning, shampoo it out and condition as usual. On mask days, add the Vitamin infused oil to the Iles Formula Hair Mask instead, used between shampoo and conditioner. "Drop into your mask, on scalp + overnight." Wendy Iles
Start now, repeat as often as the hair asks, and always do it the night before anything that matters.

How do you get through three events on one wash?
With the Iles Formula Rinseless Root Refresh. Spray it onto the scalp and roots, massage it in, and blow-dry the roots against the direction of growth. The root lifts and freshens without a wash. It's a rinse-free alternative to dry shampoo that leaves no residue, which is why you can skip the hairspray and let the hair keep its memory.

What goes on last?
On damp hair, the Finishing Serum through the mid-lengths and ends before you blow-dry: heat is what brings it to life. On dry hair, a few drops of the Iles Formula Invisible Styling Oil, rubbed between the palms and slid over the lengths for a velvety, frizz-free finish with zero weight. That's the whole finish. Anything more starts to weigh the season down.
What about everyone else on the list?
Give them the Iles Formula Heritage Collection: twelve days of hair joy in one white box, with twelve embossed, numbered boxes inside, opened one a day and in order. Limited edition, beautifully wrapped and ready to give. Or keep it, and start the season with the best hair in the room.
