IF:  Tell us what you think is the biggest challenge in hairdressing today?

The biggest challenge in my opinion is making a style look really natural, kind of a “non-styled look” but at the same time well groomed and nevertheless top styled. Also a look has to fit to a person’s personality, appearance and the occasion to look natural and harmoniously. To bring these quite contrasting issues together is a matter of proof of your  skill-set.

IF:  What’s the most enjoyable part of your job?

My thankful clients who appreciate my work. Normally for a wedding session, we have a first get together appointment or a consultation, to see if the feeling is right and I can fulfill their imagination of the perfect look. If the feeling is right, it is still an honor for me they choose me for their special day to look perfect.

IF:  Why did you choose the path of hairdressing and was it easy to fall into this work?

Just because of true passion. I love the every-day challenge to style all the different types and personalities. It was not an easy way – 10 years of hard work are behind my vision of this special place I created, where you get this “les allures” experience. Patience, hard work and the trust in my craftmanship brought me there. And from time to time you have to restart and reinvent yourself, because times are changing as well.

IF:  If you had not made the decision to be a hairdresser what would you have been?

I love being creative and work with my hands...Goldsmith maybe, but I never thought about doing anything else.

IF: What is your greatest strength?

A feeling for new trends, without imitating others, a strong will and a vision to achieve my goals. But the most important thing is always to deliver on the dot.

IF:  Your favorite hairdressing tools?

The ghd curve, saltspray, Iles Formula and OSIS hairspray – that’s all I need.

IF: Tell us about your relationship with Iles Formula. How you discovered us and which formula is your favorite?

I'm happy now for 5 years to be allowed to accompany GNTM as Hair & Make-Up artist. I often saw Wendy on set and was lucky to test her products directly with her. I fell in love with her style and products, we got in touch and since then, Iles Formula is a permanent part in my shop. Our customers love Iles Formula!

IF:  What was the most challenging  job you ever made?

I can remember as it was yesterday...doing Hair and Make-Up for Toni Garn! I was so excited, I could barely introduce myself.

IF:  What was your worst hair moment and why…. privately or on set/stage or in the salon?  

I forgot my Make-up & Hair tool suitcase and I did my job with the Make-up & Hair tools that my client had in her home! Worst day ever, but she was really happy.

IF:  If you could style anyone’s hair, who would it be and why?

Rosie Huntington-Whitetey. I like her natural style and I'm sure she has a great hair texture. Her undone hairstyles look super good.

IF:  Where do you pull hair inspiration from?

It comes with time, experience but most importantly spending time and listening close to my customers. They inspire me and tell me what their preferences are, what they will wear, how they feel and what they want to look like.

So every time an individual and unique style is created, that is also constantly evolving.

IF:  Your advice to young hairdressers starting out?

Have faith in your skills, take a long breath and do your thing.
