IF: Tell us what you think is the biggest challenge in hairdressing today?
In today's fast-paced and quite media-dominated time, it is really difficult as a barber to stay true to yourself. Certainly, influences from social networks bring with them a lot of positive input, but in reverse, they also build up some pressure fields. Every hairdresser has his signature and he should intuitively incorporate it into his work, no matter what the current trend looks like.
IF: What’s the most enjoyable part of your job?
I see my job not only as a job, but also as an art. It makes me proud to see how many people leave the salon happily. Beautiful hair gives you so much self-confidence. I love my job.
IF: Why did you choose the path of hairdressing and was it easy to fall into this work?
Even as a little boy, I've been styling my Barbies and probably the foundation for my current passion was laid. At the age of 16, I just went to a hairdressing salon in my hometown and applied. A week later I got the job and I have not regretted it a single day since then.
IF: If you had not made the decision to be a hairdresser what would you have been?
I would work in a kindergarten. Somehow, I have a connection with children.
IF: What is your greatest strength?
Good mood. There is nothing more important. I often catch myself laughing around somehow and making everyone laugh. I think that's MY strength.
IF: Your favorite hairdressing tools?
Scissors and round brushes.
IF: Tell us about your relationship with Iles Formula. How you discovered us and which formula is your favorite?
Iles Formula belongs to every cut in my work. Especially the finishing serum is important to me, a weapon when it comes to moisture. I got to know the products of Iles Formula a year ago, with entry into the team of REZA HAIR BERLIN.
IF: What was the most challenging job you ever made?
I had just been freshly trained and immediately had one of these supposed hardships. I was allowed to dye the hair of an Asian woman from dark brown to pastel pink. But it took me a full seven hours and unfortunately nobody was there to help me. Such moments make you strong.
IF: What was your worst hair moment and why…. privately or on set/stage or in the salon?
At the age of 11, I dyed my hair bright red. Unfortunately, not as consistent as I would today. In addition, the color red does not really flatter my skin tone.
IF: If you could style anyone’s hair, who would it be and why?
I am a big fan of Agnes Dane. She is so casual and cool. I am particularly fascinated by her changeability and would like to follow my visions here. I think we would be a good team.
IF: Where do you pull hair inspiration from?
At the moment, of course, a lot is about social media. There I follow designers, models, actors and many beauty blogs. I am especially happy to find new inspirations while traveling.
IF: Your advice to young hairdressers starting out?
Never stop learning and do this job with body and soul.
