IF : Tell us what you think is the biggest challenge in a hairdressing career today ?
JRH : The biggest challenge was being filmed for E4 Great British Hairdresser. We filmed for a few months and constantly with a microphone and camera in your face. But it was a great opportunity to travel the world doing photo shoots.
IF : What’s the most enjoyable part of your current job ?
JRH : The most enjoyable part of the job is when my clients come to see me for their uplift and we laugh and joke and take a few selfies and they leave loving their hair.
IF : Why did you choose the path of hairdressing ?
JRH : Came into hairdressing after wanting a change in career direction and I'm glad I did as I have loved my work from day one.
IF : If you had not made the decision to be a hairdresser what would you have been ?
JRH : I believed I would have pursued a career with my other passion, in the Equine Industry.
IF : What is your greatest strength ?
JRH : I believe a great strength is being able to see the end result in my head before I start.
IF : Your favorite hairdressing tools ?
JRH : My Favorite tools I couldn't work without :- my Parlux Hairdryer, my little brush and the Iles Formula Finishing serum ... what more do you need?
IF : Tell us about your relationship with Iles Formula ... How did you discover us and which formula is your favorite ?
JRH : After meeting Wendy a few months ago she asked me to just try the products. I have never looked back and I LOVE the 'Finishing Serum' and all my clients are in love too. Great all rounder on wet or dry hair.
IF : We want to know more about your thermal scissors?
JRH: As a stylist, for me it’s all about offering my clients the very best, which is why I’m excited to launch the new Thermal Cut & Blow-Dry. The latest innovative technology allows the heated thermal scissors to cut hair like never before whilst strengthening and protecting the hair and adding thickness. The Thermal Scissors work to strengthen and protect your hair as it is cut. The heat of the scissors warms the Keratin (natural Protein ) within your hair to seal ends as they are cut, eventually eliminating split ends. This treatment is suitable for all hair types. Thermal Cut & Blow-Dry £300.
IF : New Hair trends, is there something happening with hair right now that is exciting you ?
JRH : Trends - Mid Length cuts are all the rave, collar bone skimming looks great for the winter jumpers and even pulled back into a simple tasseled low ponytail. Colors are becoming more natural but you can't go far wrong with a few baby lights to frame the cut.
IF : What was your worst hair moment and why ? Privately, on set or in the salon ?
JRH : I entered an industry competition and got through to the finals and an hour before the finals my model didn't show up, a nightmare !
IF : If you could cut and color anyone's hair, who would it be and why ?
JRH : One of the Victoria's Secret girls - My ultimate work aim is to do the hair for the Victoria Secret Show.
IF : Where do you pull hair inspiration from ?
JRH : I travel a lot and get my inspiration from everywhere and everything. I then try and interpret in a trend or a look for my clients or models for shoots.
Thank you Josh, we loved having you on our journal today. Here are some of Josh's work.
