IF: Tell us what you think is the biggest challenge in hairdressing today?

The biggest challenge is teaching the new assistants coming into the industry, how the consistency of work ethic of Being on time, consistency of the days you work and hours, and of course the hair that is done in order to build a clientele.

IF: What’s the most enjoyable part of your job?

The most enjoyable part of my job is being able to know how to relate and produce a new hair experience for my client and see them get so excited about their style.

IF: Why did you choose the path of hairdressing and was it easy to fall into this work?

I knew I wanted to do hair since I was 8 years old and bought my 1st Barbie Doll and transformed her hair! I worked very hard and consistently with some great opportunities that came my way in the 40 some odd years I have done hair!

IF: If you had not made the decision to be a hairdresser what would you have been?

It’s so hard for me to answer this question because hair is my passion, it’s all I ever wanted to do, maybe a doll maker so I can design the hair! Lol

 IF: What is your greatest strength?

My greatest strength is having the imagination to be able to create!

IF: Your favorite hairdressing tools?

My favorite hairdressing tool is my fingers to twist, lift, finger dry, and feel the hair!

IF: Tell us about your relationship with Iles Formula. How you discovered us and which formula is your favorite?

I work in the absolute best Salon called Ryan M  Scottsdale, Ryan and his wife Kim introduced the product into the Salon, it became a game-changer for me and made me look like a hero in my clients eyes! The Iles Formula kit was the combination that kept the integrity of the hair. When my clients came back even for their color it came out shinier, richer and in better health.

IF: What was the most challenging job you ever made?

The most challenging job I ever made was owning my own Salons, that is why I appreciate where I work and the establishment of RyanMScottsdale!

 IF: What was your worst hair moment and why…. privately or on set/stage or in the salon?

 My worst hair moment years ago when I was fresh in the business, I worked for a company in a Department Store, and I was told to go downstairs to give a talk on the new hair trends coming in style, I was unprepared and was speechless because this was a last-minute request, I never was unprepared again after that!

 IF: If you could style anyone’s hair, who would it be and why?

I would love to style Jone Jett's hair, I love to do rocker hair and she had and has one of the best shags!

IF: Where do you pull hair inspiration from?

I pull inspiration from everything that is around me, that may show texture, design, and color! I pull a lot of inspiration sometimes from classic movies from 20’s, 30’s, 40’s on up!

IF: Your advice to young hairdressers starting out?

My advice to young hairdressers starting out be consistent , never be afraid of competition, it only makes you better, and only compete with yourself, striving each day to strive to do your best.
