No wigs, no face paint, nothing that frightens. Five costumes with a pedigree, each finished with a single formula.
Halloween doesn't have to be frightening to be unforgettable. These are five of the chicest looks from fashion, film and history, and every one of them lives or dies on the hair. One formula per look, and nothing else.
Marie Antoinette

Versailles, by way of the garden maze. A towering pouf, teased high and pinned with a single white feather, soft curls left loose at the nape, and a gown of ivory silk and lace with ruffles to match. It is the most extravagant hair in history, and it only works if the height is there from the first photograph to the last.
The formula: Iles Formula Rinseless Root Refresh. Spray it onto the scalp and roots, massage it in, then blow-dry the roots in the opposite direction to the way the hair grows before you tease and pin. It pumps volume into the roots, the foundation the whole pouf stands on, and leaves no residue behind.
Holly Golightly

Breakfast at Tiffany's, done properly. A smooth high bun with a small tiara set in front, oversized cat-eye sunglasses and long opera gloves. Wear the little black dress, or swap it for white satin as we did. Either way, the bun is the whole look, and it has to be immaculate.
The formula: Iles Formula Intensive Hair + Body Balm. Warm a small amount between your palms and smooth it over the hair from the hairline back before you twist it up. It smooths, tames frizz and gives the bun control and a polished finish.
Morticia Addams

The original gothic glamour. A long black gown, fur at the shoulders, a single red rose, and hair that is long, poker-straight and glossy black, parted precisely down the middle. There is no curl and no wave to hide behind, which is exactly why it looks so expensive.
The formula: Iles Formula Finishing Serum. Work it evenly through damp mid-lengths and ends, then blow-dry the hair straight with a brush. Heat is what brings it to life, and it leaves the lengths smooth without ever weighing them down.
The Masquerade

Midnight at a grand hotel. A black lace eye mask, a black slip dress, long black gloves, and hair swept back from the face so the lace does all the talking. It is the most mysterious look here and the easiest to wear, finished in minutes.
The formula: Iles Formula Invisible Styling Oil. Put a few drops into your palm, rub your hands together and slide them over the hair as you sweep it back, piecing it through any sections that need control. Clear as water in the bottle, it disappears into the hair and leaves a velvety, frizz-free finish with zero weight.
Studio 54

The dance floor, 1977. A cloud of pink feathers over a sequin slip that catches every camera flash, and big, glossy, tumbling curls with all the movement of the night. It is pure glamour, and the curls are what carry it.
The formula: Iles Formula Curl Revive. Apply it liberally through damp curls, then diffuse or let them dry naturally and shake them out with your fingers for width. The curls come out soft, with no crunch.
Pick the one that feels most like you, do the hair properly, and let everything else be simple.
