Working with Martin Scorsese
Working alongside Martin Scorsese on the Chanel Bleu set was certainly a memorable moment for me. As a freelancer from the fashion world, it's much easier to have access today to these famous Hollywood directors than it used to be, as many of them are now hired to film the big budget TV Commercials. You may also notice that many of these high-end commercials of today are no longer endorsed by top models but by actresses and actors.Working on the Chanel commercial was a 5 day shoot in the streets... Hair Tips - How to Get Diane Kruger's Hairstyle
Diane has fine textured hair and when I did this coiffure for her it was quite layered. I blow dried her hair as a basic dry technique then made these broken waves with my small one inch straightening iron. I took meshes haphazardly and slipped them through the straightening blades at the same time turning my wrist toward the back of head. The secret is to be fluid in your movement, don't stop while turning  your hand or you will have a strange mark appear in the hair.Once done dishevel... Read more...
"Alive in the Face of Death" by #Rankin
Rankin's new book "Alive in the Face of Death" is strong, emotional, provoking, powerful and inspiring. Most of the book is comprised of people suffering from terminal illness. Their generosity is touching allowing Rankin to capture them in a real and personal way. A rare and haunting subject to document.Beautiful and positive comments written on "Post it"-makeup an inside wallpaper on the front and back cover of the book - with words: "It makes you think of the ones you love", "You are alive, so live", "I found the book much... Hair Inspiration: Cubism
This image above is a Botticelli  hair style I did  around 15 years ago with photographer Felix Lammers and makeup artist Yasmin Heinz. At the time I pulled my inspiration from my Sassoon training ,but  its time again to think of recreating this style so I'm  putting together a moodboard on soft cubism looks to re inspire me. I learnt at Sassoon how to stack perm to achieve the look of the "Botticelli" as in my image above. For this cubism shape instead of perm rods, we use hundreds of small braids that... Read more...
I HEART
My week revolved around Cheryl Cole, Rankin, The Ham Yard Hotel, TRESemmé and London. If you are planning to visit London, I totally recommend the The Ham Yard Hotel , This is a sister hotel to the Soho Hotel where I often stay - only opened one month ago. Everything is just perfect and the service is impeccable. The best start to your day will be with the hotel fresh breakfast serving homemade yogurt, homemade fresh fruit puree and home backed crunchy muesli all served in grandma style glass containers. The... Read more...
From Beach to Street
It's beach time ! Here are some simple tricks to take your beach hair to the street for late afternoon dinner or drinks. These are tips that work for long hair. Short hair is pretty much a swim, shake and dry. The sea water adds a great texture to short hair once dried, so don't rinse it out. Comb it through into shape while wet then don't brush it once dry, just use your fingers to shake it and you are ready to go ! For long hair you have 2... Read more...
Wendy Iles' Hair Tips : How To Keep Your Hair In Good Condition
One of my twitter followers asked if I'd advice her on how to keep her hair well conditioned. So here's my answer. Thank you Toni for your question and please let me know if this helped you.Firstly be sure to have your hair ends trimmed every 6 weeks even when growing your hair to keep the ends clean of split. If you have many split ends, then start this recipe by first taking off as many as possible. This does not necessarily mean cutting off a lot of length. What I... Read more...
